Chapters 15, 16, & 17

Guess who's back? Sophie and she's ready to help! After David is beaten and knocked unconscious, Sophie comes to help him escape. Sophie also learns about David's telepathy, and is curious, but keeps his secret. She leads him to her cave, and tells him to stay there while she goes to find Rosalind and Petra. But Sophie is worried that the spider man will choose Rosalind over her, only because Rosalind can have children. She finds Petra and Rosalind, and brings them to her cave also. Rachel tells Michael that Mark might be dead, so she's all alone and very scared. I think that he did die, but not from torture or someone thinking he was telepathic. I think he would have told his friends if he were suspected. The Sealand people are on their way, but very far off. I think they'll show up just in time, but barely.
In chapter 16, Sophie gets mad at Rosalind for taking the spider man away from her. Next, we find David being woken by Michael. He tells David that the search party is planning to attack soon, and the Sealanders will be another eight and a half hours. The Fringes think that David rescued Rosalind and Petra, killed the Albino guard, and sent a search after him. But it soon died down with a battle starting. Then, David has the issue of his father. Was he in the army against him, or not? Should he kill his father, or spare him? His father was always persistent about destroying deviants, no matter who they were. I think that he is in the army. The Sealand lady gives this giant speech about how he should react. She said not to bother about David's father because he doesn't understand. Right now, their focus was to survive. Sophie left to find out what was going on. She was gone for an hour, but finally returned. When she did, the spider man was at the bottom of the ladder, calling for Sophie. Luckily, he didn't come up, nor did he suspect her. After this, the battle had begun. I was starting to think the Sealanders weren't coming, when all of a sudden; there was some sort of mist descending from the sky. Along with the descending mist, there were these cobweb-like things falling from the sky. They are sticky, and cover everything.
They slowly expand and suffocate all living things. The Sealand lady comes in just in time to spray David, Rosalind, Petra, and Michael. The Sealand lady is beautifully airbrushed, and looks perfect. She brings the 4 to her "fish thing", or a helicopter, and gets ready to go. But Michael says there is one other, Rachel. He asks if they can go get her, but there isn't enough fuel to go there, make a landing, and go back with an extra person. So Michael stays behind to get Rachel, and they would find a way to get to Sealand. Finally, after 17 chapters, the prediction we've been making since chapter 1: David and the remaining telepathic people make it to David's dream land. Though it never says it in the book, I think that Rachel and Michael will make it to Sealand and everyone there will live much more comfortably. Sometimes I wondered if it was too good to be true, since the Sealanders killed all those people in the Fringes. But then I thought, nah. I like good endings, might as well keep it good.

  1. Nice blog Em. I also agree that it is pretty predictable that the Sealand is David's dreamland. I liked your final blog, it was really well written.
